Where have I been?

I haven't been very active online for a while. I post more on instagram than I do anywhere else though. This year has had a lot going on. It was my last semester leading up to graduating from Memphis College of Art and I was working on formatting a graphic novel collecting the first year of my journal comics.

While I was at school I had a few surprises. I got into a car accident where no one got hurt but I did loose my orange Volkswagen Beetle. So I also had to get a new used car, a big four door hatchback. I miss the orange color because now I get lost far more often in parking lots looking for which one of these white cars are mine.

And so, after the car stuff had calmed down, life feels the need to throw more stuff at me, naturally. Fortunately this one brought this cutie into my life. I took in a rescue puppy from my neighborhood. With my dog, she couldn't stay at my house. The puppy stayed with my grandmother but I often had to help out as the most able bodied person. She's living happy, enjoys the dog park as well as meeting new people and dogs. She now belongs to my youngest brother who named her Raven.

I finally graduated with a 3.67 GPA and finished my BFA that I proudly displayed in the BFA art show at the graduation.

There was alot to do after that. I went to Florida for my sister's graduation from Johnson and Whales, soon after I went to a friend's wedding back in Texas, then I came back to Memphis for job training for my summer job, and then there was my family vacation to Disney World. Eventually I came back to Memphis after a month of road trips. I miss my orange bug, but having a larger car did come in handy.

I've been enjoying my time working as a teacher's assistant for Memphis College of Art's Summer Art Camp program. Each class was a week long so I assisted for a variety of classes and ages from pre-k to highschoolers.

I've finished school for now and I've been stressing on getting a job and being so far behind on my journal comics. I still posted art on Instagram as I participated in the mermay challenge and my own personal project redesigning the legion. The project excites and relaxes me so I've gotten swept up in doing that. It started during the spring break that I planned to use to get caught up in school work. The project has been helping me to improve in my character design work that would also make a good addition to my portfolio.

Life happens and I plan on getting back to my webcomic and working. It may be a while till I get a handle on stuff. Though I also may never will, thus the ongoing theme I also set for my webcomic, I Don't Know What I'm Doing.

Melusine Comic

It's the last day of the school grading period, so I had to quickly finish my Melusine comic and print it to turn it in. I spent the week finishing the ink wash and cleaning the scans.

Comic Close-Ups

Printing was difficult, a series of hiccups. First, there was already a paper jam and I had to open the printer from the back. Then when I got to printing the second side, I ran out of ink. So now those pages were ruined. I replaced the ink and started again only to realize I should've cleaned the nozzle. When the third attempt was finally finished I trimmed the pages to full bleed and stapled them. I very much dislike printing comics. The more I understand it, hardly lessens the stress it gives me. I somehow manged to turn it into the school on this day it's due.
